Air Source Heat Pumps

Efficient, low-carbon heating, with up to £7,500 off

An air source heat pump takes warmth from the outside air and uses it to heat your home and hot water, far more efficiently than a gas or oil boiler. As an MCS certified installer, we design each system around your home's actual heat loss, handle your Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, and install everything from the outdoor unit to the controls.

Six reasons to switch from a boiler

£7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant

Eligible homes in England and Wales can get £7,500 towards an air source heat pump. We handle the application for you and take the grant straight off your quote.

Around three times more efficient

A well-designed heat pump typically delivers three units of heat or more for every unit of electricity it uses. A gas boiler can never deliver more heat than the energy it burns.

Lower-carbon heating

Moving off gas, oil, or LPG is one of the biggest single changes you can make to your household carbon footprint, and the benefit grows as the grid gets greener.

0% VAT

Heat pump installations currently qualify for zero-rated VAT, which makes them cheaper to install than they have been before.

Steady, even warmth

Heat pumps run gently for longer instead of blasting heat in short bursts. The result is a consistently comfortable home without the peaks and dips.

Pairs perfectly with solar

Run your heat pump on electricity from your own roof, and store surplus in a battery. Solar, battery, and heat pump together make a very low-running-cost home.

How it works

Heat from the air, even in winter

A heat pump doesn't create heat by burning fuel. It moves heat that's already in the outside air into your home, which is why it's so efficient.

Draws heat from the outside air

An outdoor unit extracts warmth from the air, even in freezing weather. Modern units keep working efficiently well below zero.

Concentrates it

A compressor raises that heat to a useful temperature. This is the same principle as your fridge, running in reverse.

Heats your home and water

The heat goes into your radiators or underfloor heating, and into a hot water cylinder, just like a conventional wet central heating system.

Designed properly

A heat pump is only as good as its design

Poorly sized systems are behind most of the heat pump horror stories. Every installation we carry out is designed to MCS standards, starting from how much heat your home actually loses.

  • A room-by-room heat loss calculation, so the system is sized for your home and not a rule of thumb
  • A check of every radiator, with upgrades only where a room needs more output
  • The right location for the outdoor unit, with noise and planning in mind
  • A correctly sized hot water cylinder for your household
  • Controls set up for low, steady flow temperatures, which is where the savings come from

Ways to pay

Pay upfront. Pay the balance after any Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant and own your system outright from day one.

Finance options. If you'd prefer to spread the cost, finance may be available through Phoenix Financial, a credit broker. We can introduce you to them and they'll discuss the options available to you. Finance is subject to status; terms and conditions apply.

Heat your home with your own electricity

A heat pump runs on electricity, so pairing it with solar panels and battery storage means more of your heating and hot water is powered by your own roof. We install all three, so we can design them to work together from the start.
